My First Sunday Night with the Two Girls

I took my 4 week old and my 2 1/2 year old daughters to church for the first time by myself April 3.  The morning went great!  I used the nursery, and everything went smoothly.  Since my husband had to work that evening, I decided it'd be "fun" to take them both to Sunday night church.  We arrive a little late, but that's to be expected with a little one.  I used the double stroller and packed it with both of their diaper bags and my purse.  We leave the stroller out in the foyer and sit on the back pew.  We're hardly there when Rachel (my 4 week old) smells of a poopy diaper.  So  I gather my things, and the three of us get up and head to the ladies' restroom.  I change her, and we head back into church.  My 2 1/2 year old immediate starts going through her little sister's diaper bag.  She pulls out the my nursing cover, puts it on and begins "nursing" puppy dog (her beloved stuffed animal).  I shrink down into the pew and quickly glance around, but nobody seems to be noticing her behavior.  Whew.  Then Rachel begins hiccuping...the loud, continuous, infamous newborn hiccups.  What can I do?  I wait it out and hope nobody notices...but they do...they turn their heads around and smile at me.  We're finally nearing the end of the service, and I realize my checkbook is in the stroller.  Drat.  So I gather the three of us, and we head back to foyer to dig in the stroller.  We come back in.  Well, Anna Kate, the 2 1/2 year old, thinks it must be okay to make trips back and forth to the stroller (since Mommy obviously does this) so she begins to do so.  "No!!!" I mouth to hear and motion as discreetly as possible.  The music starts, and she begins to dance in the aisle.  Great.  Suddenly, she passes gas.  She looks at me and says, "I need to poop!"  I say, "Fine.  Just go."  I'm so worn out at this point and, really, I'm very aware of who is in the foyer since I've been a frequent visitor there quite a few times in the past few minutes.  I pick up Rachel, and we go to get her.  Anna Kate is standing in the foyer, holding her diaper and says, "Let's go!"  Oh boy.  I'm pretty embarassed at this point, and I glance around to see who is looking.  Just an elderly couple, and they're smiling.
